Marine Biology Center
This assignment required I build a Marine Biology Lab on the Oakdale Site Located in Oakdale, NY
The Marine Biology Center had to be centered around a spatial program.
Village On Sticks
Conceptual Sentence: This Marine Biology Center honors the view of the Great South Bay, while brining in an ambiance of the outdoors.
The overall circulation and conceptual analysis of this design took inspiration from historical and geographical data that I've obtained:
- Ancient Mesoamerica
- Elevated village in Malaysia

Materials
The red brick acts as a tribute to the rest of the Oakdale Site. It appears to disrupt the course of the white brick.
White brick takes up the majority of walls on the site.
The lumber acts as both a structural and aesthetic element on the site. This material acts as the piles that support the village and reminds the person experiencing the site about its connection to the woodlands around it.
The Green roof not only acts as vibrant asset to the site, it will aid in the overall drainage/flooding of the site by capturing rain water.
Concrete will be used for sidewalks and other elemental aspects on site .
This special glass manages a steady stream of light into the labs . Too much light in a lab can become overwhelming for those using it (and what ever specimen they're studying).
